2014 WSOP Event #6 – $1,500 No Limit Hold'em Shootout

by Joseph Smith Sr.

Alex BolotinNew Yorker Alex “Diesel” Bolotin has come close to the coveted WSOP gold bracelet dating back to 2007, but no cigar.  That has now all changed after he defeated Dinitat Danchev and collected $259,211 plus one of those elusive bracelets in event #6 of the 2014 World Series of Poker.

A total of 948 entrants paid the $1,500 buy-in for the No Limit Hold'em Shootout and all were hoping for a piece of the $1,279,000 prize pool.   Originally from Belarus, Bolotin continues to lay claim as the most successful poker player from the country after collecting the $259,211 winner's share and extending his lead over fellow countryman, Vadim Kursevich.

Two time WSOP bracelet winner, Josh Arieh, came to the final table with a large stack of chips and played a solid game but couldn't recover after his made set of tens were bested when Bolotin's spiked Ace gave him a set of bullets and most of Arieh's chips.  Arieh eventually finished in the 4th spot and collected  $72,846 for his efforts.

Heads-up play saw Bolotin facing off with Dimitar Danchev for the money and gold.  In the ended it was all Bolotin.  The all-time money winner from Belarus had finally won one of poker's greatest treasures, a gold WSOP bracelet.

The following list the order of finish and money awarded to final table players:

  1. Alex Bolotin ------ $259,211

  2. Dimitar Danchev - $160,410

  3. Jon Lane ----------- $100,239

  4. Josh Arieh --------- $72,846

  5. Steven Loube ----- $53,777

  6. Douglas Foster --- $40,314

  7. David Trager ----- $30,664

  8. Shawn Busse ----- $23,638

  9. Maxx Coleman –  $18,468

Congratulations to Alex Bolotin for his win and first WSOP bracelet.
